Hunan Business College is a government-sponsored full-time college, one of the universities and colleges specially supported in the overall economic and social development program of Hunan province. Located in Changsha, the capital city of Hunan, the college covers a total area of over 800 mu, and a floor space of over 400,000 square meters. Convenient transportation and beautiful environment add to the charms of the college.

With rich schooling experience accumulated over the years, HBC has by now grown into a multi-disciplinary college of four-year taking the disciplines of Management and Economics as its main focus while laying emphasis on the coordinated development in such disciplines as Law, Technology, Literature, and Applied Science. It consists of 15 teaching units in the forms of schools and departments and 10 research institutes. Currently 23 programs with bachelor¡¯s degrees are offered and over 10000 fulltime students are enrolled on campus. In addition, about 5000 students are receiving vocational training or taking various forms of adult education either as full-time or part-time recruits.


HBC proudly hosts a faculty team of capable and dedicated teachers. Out of the 830 faculty and staff, over 530 are fully engaged in teaching and research, including 210 professors and associate professors. Moreover, more than 60 distinguished experts and renowned scholars, both inside the country and from abroad, are invited as guest professors on a part-time basis.
HBC is adequately equipped with modernized teaching and research facilities including over 30 laboratories and number of internship bases outside the campus. The college library houses a collection of 600,000 volumes. With 700 computers specially installed for teaching and research use, the college provided convenient internet service by setting up a school network center and offering ready access to CERNET an INTERNET. Thus the latest information and resources about both domestic and foreign universities and about the development in economy and social reform are easily obtainable.

 


The guiding philosophy of nurturing people and serving the society being always adhered to, HBC makes unremitting efforts to train highly qualified, all-round and practical professionals in the field of economic management possessing wide range of knowledge, high comprehensive quality and strong innovation spirit. While on-campus students¡¯ comprehensive quality and capability are coordinately developed, their individuality is fostered with equal attention. Thus the graduates win high opinion from the work unit and take positions in all walks of life. In recent years, the employed rate of the graduates has amounted to 98%.
HBC has successively established academic exchange and collaboration ties with overseas universities and institutions. Agreements on joint-educational programs and research co-operation have been reached with universities and research centers in the countries of USA, UK, Russia, New Zealand, Ireland, Holland, and India.

The School of International Studies of HBC is the secondary-level schooling entity in charge of the innovative implementation of the joint educational model with overseas universities of HBC. In April, 2004, approved by the 77th government document of the Provincial Educational Commission, HBC has been authorized to initiate the joint educational program in such specialties as Accounting and Marketing with Griffith College Dublin, Ireland and Saxion University, Holland. Having been conferred ¡°Certificate of Qualification and Authority Undertaking the Sino-Foreign Joint-Education Projects¡± through the 2nd document of educational affairs from Hunan Provincial Educational Commission, the School is to enroll students who wish to work on the ¡°3+1¡± module of co-training programs with bachelor¡¯s degrees beginning in fall, 2004.

Backed up by the overall strength of HBC, especially the distinctive features in Disciplines and teaching resources of HBC, the School of International Studies would draw upon the advanced experience of overseas higher education management and implement the innovative teaching curriculum with bridging courses formulated by the two parties in the joint educational programs. By laying special emphasis on promoting the students¡¯ capabilities of using the School of International Studies could positively offer students chances of further education, overseas study, or working positions in joint ventures of foreign-funded companies. It is the prospect for qualified candidates in the School of International Studies to study at Griffith College Dublin, Ireland and Saxion University of Holland and to obtain bachelor degrees subject to their successful completion of the modules previously agreed.
